Support Group for Parents of Children With Autism

The first Monday of almost every month, a support group for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder meets at Empower Children’s Academy.  This support group provides a welcoming environment for parents and other caregivers of children with autism to meet, share experiences, ask question and receive support.  To download the support group flyer, click here.

Kindergarten-Transition Class Offered To Parents

In March, parents of children with a disability who will be entering kindergarten in the fall received tips on easing the transition from Children’s Academy staff.  Attendees learned the difference between preschool and kindergarten special education services, how to be an active member of the transition team and the steps in the transition process, and parents’ role in this process.  Special thanks to the Early Childhood Direction Center for supporting this program and making it free for parents.
