Adult Day Specialist: (full-time) Coordinates activities and directly interacts with participants, documents participants’ experiences, communicates with families, assists with toileting and feeding activities. High school diploma required and one year of experience working with older adults is preferred. Specialist Job Description
Supportive Employment Counselor: (full-time) Approaches businesses about employing individuals with disabilities. Works with individuals with disabilities to find and maintain employment. Works with employer in successfully transitioning employee. Associates degree and a minimum of two years experience in the developmental disabilities field is preferred.
Part-Time Music Teacher: (3-4 hours per week — evenings and/or Saturdays, approx. 30 weeks per year). Empower is bringing the award-winning Kids’ Music Round program to Niagara County and needs a teacher to establish the program. Classes will be open to the families throughout the community and will not specifically be focused on children with disabilities, although of course children with disabilities will be welcome. The successful candidate will need to complete an online training program, which will be paid for by Empower, and commit to a year of teaching. A music degree is not required, but the teacher must be able to sing in tune and keep an accurate beat. Ability to play guitar or piano is desirable, but a teacher who sings well and leads with enthusiasm may be able to instruct a class without playing an instrument. Complete posting is here.
Registered Nurse: (Full Time-Community Housing Division) Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing and licensure as a RN in NYS. Specialized training or (1) year of professional experience in treating developmentally disabled individuals in team treatment setting preferred.
Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist: (Full-Time-various divisions) Requires Master’s degree in speech language pathology and approved to complete CFY; or license in NYS with CCC’s or be eligible to be licensed in NYS. Prior experience working with developmentally disabled population preferred.
Direct Support Professionals: (Part Time to start)- Responsible for the health, safety and well-being of individuals with disabilities. Requires HS Diploma/GED, valid NYS Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and at least 18 years of age. Must be available 16 hours per week (8 of these hours must be on the weekend).
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant: (Full Time-Community Housing Division) Requires Associates Degree, valid NYS Driver’s License and registered as a COTA in NYS. One year work experience as a COTA and working with the developmentally disabled population preferred.
