Physical Therapy

Empower’s Physical Therapy Clinic offers evaluation and treatment of a variety of conditions.

A prescription from an individual’s primary care physician is required prior to their first visit to clinic.

A New York State licensed Physical Therapist evaluates the individual’s ability to perform gross motor skills (such as sitting, walking, running), postural assessment, muscle strength, joint range of motion (flexibility), balance and coordination.

The therapist will establish a plan of care for the individual and, with consent and prescription from the primary care physician, will recommend and provide therapy.

Physical Therapy treatment typically includes hands-on therapeutic intervention to restore joint motion and improve strength. Movement patterns are then re-established to enhance function and reduce abnormal compensations that may have been developed over time.

The Physical Therapist may recommend mobility devices such as lower extremity orthotics to support joints and/or improve functional skills and/or canes, walkers and wheelchairs to promote an individual’s level of independence and improve the individual’s quality of life, increase safety and improve functional mobility skills.

Physical Therapists provide training and education for individuals or family members and/or care givers.

The clinic accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Independent Health, Medicaid and Medicare insurances.
