Evaluations

Are you asking yourself…
Should my child be walking by now?
Should I be able to understand what my child is saying to me?
How many words should my child know?
When should my child learn to share with other children?

If yes, an evaluation by Empower’s experienced staff will summarize your child’s current developmental status in areas of speech, hearing, learning, social and emotional, and motor skill development.

You will be part of the discussion with the professional staff following the evaluation outlining your child’s strengths and needs.

Evaluations are typically provided at no cost to families.

Learn about the process.

At 16 months old, I was diagnosed with spastic dyplegia cerebral palsy. Doctors immediately suggested that my parents enroll me in an early intervention program. The decision to enroll their toddler in a program was not easy for my parents, but they knew that it would be the best thing for me in the long run.

I was able to socialize with other children my age and I was able to get a jumpstart on my education. By the time I graduated from Niagara Children’s, I had been attending school for nearly three years, so the transition to kindergarten was easy for me.

I excelled in school. I loved it! I graduated high school with a Regents diploma with honors, received a two-year scholarship to NCCC, and continued my education at Canisius College, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Today, I am happily employed, and I truly believe my time at Niagara Children’s helped jumpstart my development both physically and intellectually. -Val Siegmann received early intervention programming from the age of 18 months to 4 years old.
