Elks Exalted Leader Ken Perry and Elks member and Empower Children’s Academy staff member Tara Stufkosky presented Empower Chief Executive Officer Jeff Paterson with a check for $2,000.00.  This money enabled Day Program participants to go on an additional five outings, including Buffalo Bisons games and Fantasy Island.  A huge thank you to Ken, Tara and all of the Elks Lodge #346 members for their generosity.  The enjoyment and fun experienced by Day Program participants as a result of this gesture is priceless.

Two box trucks used previously at Empower’s sheltered workshops got a facelift as a result of a $3,000.00 grant from Univera Healthcare.  The trucks now advertise a pickup service for Empties for Empower customers; customers with a large quantity of cans/bottles can call (716) 260-1791, x209 to arrange for a pickup.  Once the containers are processed, returns will be credited to customers’ accounts (customers need to setup accounts in person prior to first pickup.)  Customers can opt to pick up their checks or receive them via mail.  Visit one of Empower’s two redemption centers today to learn more: 4701 military Rd. (near Rt. 31 intersection) in Niagara Falls or 3571 Niagara Falls Blvd. (Meadowbrook Plaza) in Wheatfield.  Hours of operation are: Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 3 pm, Saturdays: 9 am to 12:45 pm.

Annual Hyde Park Picnic

Lots of fun was had at the annual Job Training and Day Programs’ picnic held at Hyde Park.  Games included kick ball, Bingo and a new game called “guess that twin” thanks to the presence of Lewiston Porter High School students Ben and Josh Cardamone who helped out during the event.
